Family Program
At On Call Treatment Center FL, we believe that addiction is a family disease and therefore should be treated as such. For this very reason we now have a family program for those who choose us for their addiction treatment.
Family support is a vital part of the treatment process for a person struggling with substance abuse issues. When the family is actively involved in the treatment of their sick loved one, they have better outcomes and remain sober for longer periods of time. With the rate of addiction problems and overdoses we are seeing in this country currently, more effective treatment programs are crucial to help control the epidemic we are experiencing.

What Is Family Therapy?
Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on family-level assessment to address the nature of family relations and change these complex relationship patterns in order to promote long-term recovery. Family therapy focuses on the individual with the addiction problem and at least one other family member.
What Occurs In Family Therapy?
The first priority in family therapy is making sure all parties are safe. Participants of family therapy are taught new skills and understanding of each other and both helpful and harmful behaviors that either support or dissuade recovery. During family therapy there are common goals worked toward that include:
- Improving communication among family members
- Increasing knowledge of mental health issues
- Increasing knowledge of the disease of addiction and how it affects behavior
- Increasing awareness of interpersonal conflicts and family dynamics
- Sharing feelings
- Regaining trust in one another
- Improving self-care
- Increasing the ability to identify and set boundaries
- Increasing the ability to identify and express needs
Why Family Therapy Is So Important?
Family therapy is important for a number of reasons. Family participation can help prevent relapse in the patient, improve social and family relationships, and it increases the chances that a person will stay in treatment. Family therapy helps with conflict-resolution, and it is both educational and therapeutic. Family therapy can be very empowering. It fosters empathy and understanding, changes negative interactions, enhances problem-solving skills, helps to rebuild relationships, enables one to work through any chaos, and improves listening skills.
